Anonymous: Hi team, I’ve set up a custom metric to track an event by user id. When adding this metric to an experiment, I see that it is tagged as both event_user
and event_dau
. When I hover over the metric in the scorecard, does the numeric amount under “total” represent event_user
or event_dau
?
Statbot: When you hover over the metric in the scorecard, the “total” represents the aggregate count of the event across all users for the given time period. Since your custom metric is tracking an event by user ID and is tagged as both event_user
and event_dau
, it’s important to understand the distinction:
event_user
typically refers to the count of events triggered by users.event_dau
refers to the count of unique users who trigger a specific event on a given day.
If the metric is showing both tags, the “total” could be representing the count of the event occurrences (event_user
) or the unique daily active users (event_dau
). However, without specific details on how the metric was set up and how Statsig is displaying this data in the UI, it’s not possible to determine which one it is just from the tags. For a definitive answer, you would need to refer to the configuration of the metric in the Statsig console or the documentation provided during the setup of your custom metric. Lin Jia (Statsig): Hey Anonymous, which total do you refer to?
Anonymous: Hi Lin, I was referring to when you navigate to Pulse Results > Score card, and hover over the metric, you see a pop up. In there, there’s a “Total” amount referenced. (I attached an example screenshot)
Lin Jia (Statsig): in the upper right corner of this pop up, can you see drilldown with metric name? you can check whether it’s event_count or event_dau there
Anonymous: Is that what you’re referring to?
Anonymous: it says event_dau
in the title, but event_user
immediately below
Lin Jia (Statsig): they are the same thing in this case, essentially daily active users w/ this event.
Anonymous: I see. Thank you for clarifying
